As usual, the Razer Synapse software lets you customize the lighting for color and effects, so you can get it looking exactly how you like it. Every gap on the keyboard is filled with light, but it’s softened by the membrane, making it less glaring than a similar effect would be on another keyboard. Razer made a conscious design choice to embrace the idea of backlight bleed, as all the lighting shines through the membrane layer below the keys. There’s a single-color version, and of course the Razer Chroma model, which we reviewed. This is also where you find the unit’s only Razer branding, with a subdued logo centered on its top.Īs you might expect, the Ornata is fully backlit, with two options available. The rest is nicely padded, with a soft, faux-leather cover that is comfortable even in long sessions. Don’t expect the rest to stay with you when you move the keyboard, though. Instead, it attaches using magnets, which are strong enough to hold it in place while the keyboard is flat on the desk. Unlike most attached rests, this one doesn’t clip on with distressingly easy-to-break clips. The whole keyboard has a matte finish, and it lacks any sort of Razer branding on the keyboard itself.Īlso included with the Ornata is a detachable wrist rest. It certainly looks like a Razer product, although it’s a little less glossy than you might expect. They’re half-height, so you can move quickly across its surface. It’s low profile, with keys that look more like chiclets on a laptop than the beefy mechanical keys that gamers are likely used to by now. Razer Chroma RGB logo appears. At first glance, it’s hard to classify the Ornata. Text appears: MAGNETIC SOFT-TOUCH WRIST RESTĪs the wrist rest snaps back into place on the keyboard, the camera pulls out into a psychedelic wormhole and takes us back to a real-world gaming setup, where the keyboard’s RGB lighting continues to glow. The camera zooms in to the keyboard’s wrist rest, as an invisible pressure highlights its soft texture and feel. In a series of quick cuts, the keyboard’s lighting shifts from green, to blue, to purple-causing its environment to change color accordingly. Text appears: Powered by Razer Chroma RGB The camera rotates to a head-on shot of the keyboard in all its RGB glory. We pull out to a wider view of the keyboard floating in its colorful, futuristic dimension, as it sends out shockwaves of RGB that cause the environment to glow even brighter. The camera soars across the keyboard to show off its bright, multi-colored Razer Chroma RGB lighting. Text appears: BACKLIT DEDICATED MEDIA KEYS The camera follows the purple energy as it travels across the rest of the keycaps, coming to rest on 4 media keys on the top right of the keyboard-designed for Convenient Control of your entertainment. The camera pulls out slightly as the keycap and switch reassemble, before a purple layer of protective energy forms around the keycap. The camera zooms to the base of the switch, as it actuates once again to highlight the tactile, clicky feedback. Clicky Keystrokes with a Soft, Cushioned Touch. Text appears: Razer Mecha-Membrane Switches. One of the keys dissembles into an exploded view, as we see the internals of the switch. The camera floats from the side of the keyboard across its keys, as they actuate furiously with a satisfying clicky sound. The line shortens to measure the keycaps. The camera zooms in closer as its measurements are displayed.Ī line slides up from the keyboard’s base to the keycaps. Now in its natural gaming habitat, the keyboard rotates to show off its slim side profile. The camera zooms into the keyboard and enters a psychedelic wormhole, before popping out into colorful, futuristic dimension. We open on a top view of a black keyboard resting amongst an all-black gaming setup.Īs the text appears, the RAZER ORNATA V3 suddenly comes to life as colorful Razer Chroma RGB lighting floods the entire keyboard.
